IMPACT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

March 17, 2010

On Monday 15th March we went to the Impact Leadership Conference in the city.  We had to get up really early because we left school at 8.00am!!!  Our wonderful chaplain Beverley organised this for us.  We had a fantastic time and meet lots of new students from other schools.  We all loved “loud noises” and loved the activities they did.  Riley Marumaru and Jessica had to perform a dance move in front of the entire conference.  Well Done guys!!!!

Here are some of our ideas about the conference – What is leadership? and What makes a good leader?

Liam

Leadership is when you take charge of what you do.

A good leader is someone who takes control and is not embarassed.

Nikita

Leadership is when you take charge of what you do.

Someone who can take charge and lead you to victory

Jake

Leadership is not all about being bossy. It is about being part of a team.

A good leader helps people.

Ben

Leadership is working in a team and working together.

Riley Murray

Leadership is not about being in charge.

It is some one who is responsible and smart.

Brodie

Leadership is helping others to be better at things.

A good leader can lead people through good times and the bad times.

Jamison

A leader is a person who is a great role model and knows what to do.  They act with integrity and have a positive influence on others.  You should always try your best and never give up.  Everyone can be a leader in something.

Zoe

Working in a team helps me achieve more.  A good leader thinks of others.

Olivia

Leadership is when you can think for yourself.

What makes a good leader is someone who thinks of different ideas and works in a team.  They think for themselves, but no good leader is a leader of everything.  They’re also a good role model and never let themselves take over.

Jessica

Leadership is being a good role model.  It doesn’t mean that your in charge of everything it means your in charge of one or two things.

What makes a good leader? Not thinking that you can boss people around, be nice, not mean!

Shelby

My definition of being a good leader is: A leader is being a good friend and someone who works hard.

Leadership is being positive and leading your group the right way.

To be a leader you should be nice to others and do the right thing.

Alyce

Leadership is being a role model and impacting others.

A good leader is someone who does the right thing.

Sammy

Leadership is impacting others and being a good role model.

A good leader is someone that doesn’t show off about it. It is someone that doesn’t want to take charge all the time, who knows when to back down, and is someone that is good at something and not always shy.

Jamisyn

A leader is somebody who might be a good role model. To hear everybody’s ideas, you need to listen, and be fair. A good leader is somebody who encourages others. Remember, have fun and don’t get upset if you loose.

Riley Marumaru

A leader is a person who leads and is a good role model.  It is a person who sets the example for others to follow.

Demi

Leadership is…

Being a good role model, being in charge working together, helping others achieve their goals, cheering people on and being encouraging.

A good leader is a person who listens, helps others, does good things and takes control.

Riley Guest

A leader is a good role model who does the right thing and shows integrity.

Mercedes

Leadership is when you take the responsibility to look after, or take care of something. A good leader is a good role model, and helps people with ideas and encourages people to do good things.

Dakota

A leader is a person who leads something.  You don’t need to be in charge to be a leader.

Harrison

Leadership is about being nice and helping others.  It is about working in a team.

Caleb

Leadership is working in a team and getting along with others.

OUR START TO 2010

February 23, 2010

We have all settled in well and have been doing some fantastic work!

Our Integrated Theme this term is Space.  We have been reading a lot of interesting facts about the solar system whilst completing reading rotation tasks.

We have been doing some really fun activities during Integrated Tasks.  We have designed our own planets and we even got to plan and organise a trip to a planet of our choice.

This week we are designing our our Space Vehicles!!!

We have been working very closely with our Prep buddies and making sure we are helping them settle into the routine of school.  We have been learning how important it is to be responsible and being good role models to our Prep buddies. Bev (our chaplain) has organised a very special excursion to a leadership conference on the 15th of March.  We are all looking forward to this because this will help us learn new leadership skills that we will be able to use whilst working with our buddies during Cross Age Tutoring sessions.

We have started our Portfolios on computer this week.  We are completing Checklist 1!

Next week we have a visit from Montmorency Secondary College.  The Vice Principal is coming to talk about the school and we think some old Monty Primary students might also visit.  We can’t wait to see if we remember these students!!!!

Watch this space for some work samples next week.

Bye for now

Mrs Collins and 5 / 6 students.
